Clinical Calculators - Wells Score for Probability of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)

The Wells score for the probability of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a clinical prediction tool that estimates the probability of a patient with a suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT) actually having a DVT.

You must give information about all nine criteria in order to achieve a Wells score for probability of DVT...

Paralysis, paresis or recent orthopaedic casting of lower extremity:
    Yes
    No

Recently bedridden (>3 days) or major surgery in the last 4 weeks:
    Yes
    No

Localised tenderness in deep vein system:
    Yes
    No

  Swelling of entire leg:
    Yes
    No

Calf swelling >3cm compared with other leg (measured 10cm below tibial tuberosity):
    Yes
    No

Pitting oedema greater in the symptomatic leg:
    Yes
    No

  Collateral non varicose superficial veins:
    Yes
    No

Active cancer or cancer treated within 6 months:
    Yes
    No

Alternative diagnosis more likely than DVT (Baker's cyst, cellulitis, muscle damage, superficial venous thrombosis, post phlebitic syndrome, inguinal lymphadenopathy, external venbous compression):
    Yes
    No
